"Profit up 33 percent"

That could mean they made a solid $2.00 rather than a Buck-fifty. Percentages are FUN!

(Suppose I COULD go read the link to see the real numbers...)

Profit up 33 percent, not including restructuring costs

I wonder what it's like including restructuring costs?

Has not HH fired the very people that the made the profits possible?

IC, CN, CP, all have relatively simple profitable rout structures.  CSX, even if simplified, is more complex, more difficult to manage in my opinion, and much of the cost-saving measures HH introduced to CN and CP were implimented already, again in my opinion.

Chuck,

What EHH does with CSX remains to be seen. It is a compex road with many branches that are vital to survival, [ think the coal roads that produce revenue and the intermodal lines].

EHH is not the "be all end all". His record will stand for itself. Good, bad, or indiffernet remains to be seen.

CSX has always had sharp pencils - guess EHH sharpened them further
