During the last years of the Milwaukee Road this was a weed grown branch line restricted to MP15AC's and old GP-9's (you would never see a six axle loco on it), top speed maybe 15-20 mph. The trains generally averaged 20-30 cars. Look at it now.....

Does the far side stantion holding the crossing lights really lean as much as it appears in the video or is that caused by camera lens distortion?
Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Thats just down the road where I lived during my High School years so I will look next time I am there. Could be an optical illusion.
I don't get why the signals are so old since WisDOT has a program to split the cost of new signals 50-50 in most cases and in some cases they will pay for complete replacement. Though it depends on who owns the road and maintains it.......they have veto power.
Also, believe it or not, there used to be a branch near that crossing that connected with Milwaukee's Southwestern line...........torn up in 1932, it had just one intermediate stop on it and the town remains in grid plotted format, someday want to drive and see that town and see if you can see where the tracks were.
