PTC in Japan
Posted by Buslist on Thursday, June 22, 2017 2:10 PM

Went back to look at episode 1 of the Japanese Railway Journal which I had never seen before. One item of interest is the feature on the Japanese version of PTC. In fact the structure of this system is very similar to the North American system. I did get a chance to ride this demonstration line featured with the PTC system operating in shadow mode in 2010. ( one item that isn't mentioned is that this line was chosen for demonstration as it operates on a different voltage so the rolling stock is somewhat captive). The claim that the trains talking to the level crossing protection is the first in the world is that is done with ITCS in Michigan and on the original NAJPTC project.
