Thanks It currently looks like one of the shades of Aspen Gold, with a black band around the bottom. I did consider taking a sample and try to match, but then thought I would try my luck here. Gary
Thats correct it looks like some shade of the Aspen Gold. Thanks I will try the museum.
Try talking to one of the mechanical experts at CRRM-Golden in the Richardson Library (John T. comes to mind) - Assume you are talking some shade of Aspen Gold or Primer Gray with anything in the AX-series of work equipment. http://coloradorailroadmuseum.org/library/
Perhaps Ed Burns knows better, but my memory says it should be black with white lettering.
But cannot you find some remaining paint samples on the spreader, and have them analyzed even if faded?
I would also suggest a base coat of something like Rustoleum before the final black or whater coat.
Hi Need a little help. I am trying to find out what color the D&RGW Jordan Spreader 042 is painted. I have a company donating the paint to repaint it. I need some kind of idea of what to tell them. The spreader is located in Helper and in dire need of a repaint.
