A sign of the times...changeing writing styles on Railroad signs...

Whilst commuting to and from work on the Brisbane suburban EMU network, it suddenly struck me the way the wording on signs has "changed with the times".

The best example I have is:

The older signs (still in use) said:
Crossing of line other than by the pedestrian bridge is prohibited.

Now signs have been put up in addition to the older ones, I think to get through to the younger ones...
Stay off the tracks! Or cop a $150 fine! So don't say you didn't know!

It's written in a modern font with thick black letters on a bright yellow background. [:0]

Sure catches the eye! [:0] Has anyone else noted the change in writing styles in signs like these in RRs near them? [:)] [;)]

That's good. I would add "Fines will not be waived in cases of injury or death", but would run that by Gabe or LC first.

I've noticed a few signs that have been 'changed',but I'm still trying to figure
out the FONT they use for GRAFFITTI!![:D]

I see a couple of those virtually every day. Both are on an industrial spur, and are about 50 feet before stop signs. Unless the steam plant is unloading coal, there is rarely any rail traffic on one, and virtually none on the other. but the signs are there.

There is room for maybe one or two vehicles between the stop sign and the tracks.

My favorite was the sign that was located at the MILW crossing at Golf Road in Glenview, IL

HIGH SPEED TRAINS DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS

I often wondered where they do stop.

On the way to work one morning I saw a car off the the side of the that crossing that had been reshaped to fit nicely on the nose of an E-8. The occupants HAD left the vehicle before the transformation. Good thing as there wasn't much room between the left and right side doors.
