I would like to know a little about the signals protecting the crossings and crossovers in Chicago at the 81st Street interlocking. I saw photos of semaphores on bridges, probably from the 1940s or 50s. Were the semaphores changed to another type of signal, such as targets by the mid or late 60s, or could the semaphores lasted into the 70s or even 80s?
