We seem to have heavy fog with writing on it! Ah - I know why - our Java is ill today! Will have to wait for Java to feel better.

This is as good a forum as any, 732.

The good people at rochelle.net, our internet provider, have reconfigured their internal network and relocated our server. It may take a day or two for all the various domain servers to flu***he old routing information. For what it's worth, we can't pick it up ourselves either, but know that numerous other users can.

Happy holidays!

Web cam works fine for me. In fact, I just went to it and saw the last couple cars of a double stack.

I still cannot receive the live picture at the office, I have not checked at home this week. I can see the recent images.

I can see it, just watched a UP freight head to Chicago! Missed the engines though.

Appears to be my problem, the XP computer at my desk just sits there with the message "Loading Java Applet". I went to a 98 computer and it can see the live camera. Other Java applications are running fine on the XP computer. I'll have to talk to the admin people in Pittsburgh but I have to catch them when they are not busy, this is not a high priority with them.

Hooray! Today we're seeing that more and more users are able to view the Rochelle live feed again.

That's an XP/Java issue unrelated to the reconfiguration of our host's network. More info is available in our FAQ. Scroll down to the seventh question and answer.

Good thing I dropped into the topic, as I have been having the "Loading Java Applet" display for the past couple of days. I look in with a Mac Powerbook, and generally don't quit out of my browser. Quitting and relaunching the browser (Netscape) brought things back to normal. Yes, at 7:27 PM CST, it's dark in Rochelle, but I can see the lights.

It's good to know that somebody else is having cam problems. I have not been able to watch the trains go by since thursday, and after trying to defragment and download new Java, as of today, still hasn't come up today.[:(!] It's kinda hard not to watch the nightly trains go rumbling by when all you get a dang blank screen.[:(]

Hopefully, things on the other end will be straightened out, so that we can once again see trains from Rochelle, we'll trust the Java Gods and the Rerouters to do their thing. But as of 1 oclock this afternoon, still getting the usual blank screen.

Dont' fret, I have just the opposite. I couldn't see it at the office today, but I just checked and could see it at home. That's right, not even we can see it at our office. Isn't technology grand? It's going to get better, just be patient.

As I was just checking it (despite the tempting smells of Christmas cookies coming from the kitchen), a UP train crawled through the darkness of the diamond and lit the area with it's headlight (pretty cool). To be honest, the UP paint scheme never looked so good to me. [:o)]

...just minutes later, another even cooler thing happened.

An eastbound approched the diamond and cut his headlights and ditch lights so you could only see the dim headlights and number boards moving across the screen. Just as that locomotive moved off to the right of the camera's view, a westbound came by and lit the side of the eastbound. The timing was just a littile off, but it was cool none the less.

To be honest, I don't sit back and smell the roses enough (in other words, take time to view the web came on the very site that I run). Shame on me.

I've seen that a couple times of the UP trains dimming the lights to greet the other train going to the opposite direction. So it's cool to see them doing that when it's late nite. It's also quite cool to see the BNSF train going to Aurora, you can see the lights coming brighter and reflecting off the building there in the background. As well as seeing the forthcoming UP trains going west to east. Can't beat late nite entertainment there.

Here's a fun fact for y'all. At the Nature Center on the outskirts of Cedar Rapids, the rail line that goes through the area is actually the UP railway line that goes through Rochelle [;)]

Hopefully, technology will come through, and I can get to watch those trains past though the night soon. Even though I can watch them at work, can't do it all night like i do at home. Boss usually frowns upon that. [;)]

Thanks for keeping me posted [:)]
