NS owns the east-west former B&M main line in Massachusetts along with some other trackage jointly with Pan Am Railways under the name Pan Am Southern.  Included in the arrangements were certain marketing and haulage agreeements with Pan Am Railways itself, marketed as the "Patriot Corridor".

PAS owns from Rotterdam Jct and Mohawk Yard NY to just east of Ayer MA, with rights from White River Jct VT to New Haven CT on the ex B&M/NYNH&H Conn River Line.  Connection with NS is at Mohawk Yard, an ex-D&H facility.

I would guess that the line in question may represent haulage rights or through service jointly provided with Pan Am.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

I was looking at the norfolk sothern system map on their corporate website, and I saw that they showed the pan am Portland, Maine to Waterville, ME route along with several other new england pan am trackage as part of the NS system. Any ideas why?
