Last i checked most railroads are self insured and that most major insurance companies wont insure railroads both freight and passenger because the risk is too big. A train carring 200 passengers requires a min coverage of 1 million dollers or more per passenger. A Freight train that wrecks 25 cars of DVD and computers that bill could run several million dollers. Chemical Clean ups could take years and in the Willard OH CSX yard they still have ground water clean up trailers 4 years after a Vinal Cloride train took a dump in the Ice Pond there. So I am surprised to see this ad. I also thought that the common carrier status limited libabilty depending on what state the railroad or bus or truck line is opperating in. Private Passenger Railcar insurance is also instresting as AAPRO would deal with this. This topic was discussed here a few years ago but now in 2017 there seems to be more players in the market
