The above linked story is concerning a new passenger rail travel opportunity in Japan.
One-way ride, for four days, on a luxury passenger accomodation for only $10,000.00. No pictures provided on link, only descriptions of the equipment. It did mention that the first trip had 33 passengers, and the service is booked full, 'til March of 2018 !

OK! FTA: "...The Twilight Express Mizukaze departed Osaka on its maiden trip with around 30 well-heeled passengers on a journey to the far reaches of Japan's main island. The Mizukaze, which means "fresh wind" in Japanese, is just the latest luxury offering in train-mad Japan, which has an extensive railway network covering most of the country..."
Fare on the Mizukaze, for its best accomodation is 2.4 Million Yen,or $22K for two nights and Three days of luxury
Noted in this same story is another Luxurious 'Rail Cruiser'
FTA: "...Last month, the Shiki-Shima left Tokyo's Ueno Station with passengers treated to meals whipped up by gourmet chefs. A four-day journey in several rooms that boast a cypress wood tub cost a cool 950,000 yen per person...It cost the Shiki-Shima's operator 10 billion yen to refurbish it, and build special lounges at regular stops, among other expenses. The train is booked out through to March next year. (Apparently, this was the train in the original linked article(?))
And the reasons for fielding these luxury trains, besides Japanese enthusiam for high-end rail accomodations? The upcoming 2020 Olympics, and the foreign travel brought to Japan for that event.
Instructive to consider what makes this worthwhile, and what might have to be done to Amtrak LD service to make it amenable to support such a thing (Ed Ellis tried and doesn't seem able to, as the Canadian French might say, 'toucher le gros lot', while the Canadians happily rack up high sales for comparable ticket prices.)
here is a video of the train
