Possible affected rail traffic?

...It was reported a year or so ago that production of he Excursion would probably cease in the near future but at that time an exact date was not reported but this now seals it's fate. One other thing, the production figures never were that high and probably has been dwindling and I'd imagine the truck assembly capacity can be absorbed by other truck production. Probably won't affect the rail traffic and people count that much.

The article I read said that they are getting rid of that behemoth in order to free up production capacity for something else (some kind of truck, I think). So it sounds like there's still going to be production going on...

You'll just have to listen to the media coverage, Walt. If they're not talking layoffs at the plant, you probably won't see a decrease in activity. And the media are more apt to discuss such trivial matters as people's livelihoods rather than the important things like rail traffic [;)].

Ford has announced today that this coming September, it will cease
production of the Excursion, which is made at the eastern Jefferson
County, Kentucky Truck Plant here in Louisville.

Wondering how this will affect rail loads into the city, as a lot of
the chassies and other parts are brought in by rail.

Any words of wisdom or comments, suggestions?

They're talking about increasing the super duty pickups that are
also made there, so maybe that will offset some of the loss?
