Why would a intermodal train start at Harrisburg go thru Shenandoah turn west at Roanoke then head to Ohio rather then go straight west via Pennsy lines. Woke up on my trip here in Radford VA. Long Ride never do that again. Dont try this at home.
Train Chasing can be hard work. Radford has been a railroad hub since 1859 according to the board
Possibly an incident on the Pittsburgh line. A couple days ago, there was a coal train derailment blocking both tracks. They probably used a detour to get around this. Maybe that route is quicker than going up the Buffalo line and then turning west toward Ohio. This train might have also needed to do pickups, which is another possibility. Also, what train symbol is this?
Train did make a stop @ Front Royal aka the Port Of Virgina. The Old N&W did have a routing to Columbus OH. The Middle of the Buffalo Line has been downgraded and not sure if it can take Double Stacks as they exceed Plate F
[/quote the buffalo line is cut north of olean with WNY&P operating olean to driftwood, and B&P running machias to buffalo section
I have been told that there is a pair of IM trains to Huntsville AL and Birmingham that pass thru Radford VA but considering that Class Ones have been spilling trains all over the place I see why there is reroutes.
