Thank you, Bruce, for vindicating our decision to go home from California via the direct route.  I'd been thinking we'd have enough time to go at least by way of Portland, but my wife wanted to get home faster (so we took the Southwest Chief, which dropped eight hours between Needles and La Junta).

Speaking of which, could you send some of that wet stuff down to eastern Colorado?  MC would thank you!

Per Amtrak, BNSF was / is closed between Kelso and Vancouver, WA.

Also, No.8 is presently stopped between Mukilteo and Everett.

BNSF issued this blanket statement today about the ongoing threat of landslides and washouts in the Northwest, complete with a photo of last week's slide at Katka, Idaho:

Pouring rain here in northern Idaho right now, snow in the higher elevations.
