My trip on the EB last summer had two P42's leaving Chicago and one into Seattle.  Presumably, one unit went with each section after the split at Spokane.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

The question is what happened to the missing lead unit-the Builder usually comes into Seattle with two. The second one had to be working at least enough to provide HEP.

Amtrak 7, the Empire Builder, is being pulled into Seattle by BNSF 5233 on February 26, 2017.  There must have been some problem with the Genesis unit.  Train was 4 hours and 44 minutes late.
