FEC at FLL airport today

With all the persons fleeing the FLL terminals onto FEC tracks any idea how FEC is going to handle all the delays and crews going dead on time ?

The same way any railroad responds to such situations.  Call Recrews as necessary.

Saw several news broadcasts of people fleeing the FLL Airport yesterday, They seemed to be runniing and walking over multiple tracks and around spotted tank cars ( Have no idea if it was just a 'yard area', or part mainline [Thru tracks, and/or  yard?).  Noted the broadcasters had predicted the airport would probably not be back in full service til Sunday, about 5AM.  I would guess the railroad also suffered scheduled and traffic delays during the same time period?

My question, did anyone notify the RR (Displatchers) people were fleeing onto the tracks? If this line was a high-speed commuter line, it would have all turned out worse.   

Also, note from the NYT the airport had a plan, it was going OK up to a point, then went 'off the rails."  Looks like no-one planned for this kind of contingency resulting in conflicting messages, no coordinated police effort, guns being drawn on people jumping the air port fence (per the lined news item above.)

One can't really fault the authorities for the mass hysteria of "part deux."  Rumors of second events, though, are common.  And occasionally, they do occur.  It's a scenario we consider when dealing with such events.  

The problem, of course, is re-deploying existing resources (or bringing in new ones) to deal with the new threat, which, since it's often a rumor, is pretty nebulous, as opposed to an actual event.

Find it interesting that the NY Times can report on happenings better than local media.  Better reporting ?  Desire of local Pols to downplay this mess up and not telling local media ?  Other ideas ?

This is the old Seaboard line and it is right at the west end of the airport.   It also is the line used by Trirail and Amtrak so yes it is a fairly busy line.    I'm assuming someone had alerted the dispatching center as to what was happening so no one was hurt unless they fell over a rail.

Sorry but  you are confused.   These tracks that the persons walked by are the FEC line on the east side of the airport.  An extra track(S) was added to the FEC as siding(s) to carry all the rock for the construction of the east <> west runway  27L - 9R. That runway is south of all the FLL terminals and is about 10 years old.   The new runway is raised and actually bridges over the FEC which runs parallel to the west of I-95.  

The old SAL single track which is now TriRail 2MT line ( + a third MT west of the line north of the airport which goes over the canal freight [CSX] drawbridge where TriRail has a flyover over the  canal)  is on the west side of the airport.
