Pretty horrific accident this,being in the UK there was a fair bit of coverage on BBC News.

Looked like bomb had gone off,i suppose it had realy,terrible damage to the buildings on the road along side.

Probably wont hear anymore though,it will be old news.

LPG exploding did the damage - I am wondering if it could or was determined if the sparks from the derailment itself or the damage to the catenary system provided the ignition point?

The story mentions contact with an electrical system - might wonder if a couple of cars were upended and made contact with the catenary.  Lots of volts at lots of amps plus physical damage might contribute to the near immediate failure of a car.
