You probably have a lot of sense, but they don't know that and I'll bet they've seen too many without any sense in their careers.

Cut 'em some slack.

One summer sunday night around  August 2009.....

train...."BNSF 7395 west to the Needles sub dispatcher, there is a suspicious vehicle just east of Goffs north of the main"

dispatcher...."BNSF 7395 west understand you are reporting a suspicious vehicle?"

train...."Yes, there is someone in a white Toyota pickup on the north side of the tracks on the right of way just east o Goffs."

dispatcher...."Can you see what they are up to?"

train..."He's sitting in a chair next to his truck right next to the tracks"

dispatcher....."Are you sure he isn't just one of those foamers?"

train...."I don't think so,....he didn't take any pictures."

dispatcher...."OK 7395, I'll dispatch BNSF PD"

This was the conversation I heard over the scanner one night while I was hanging out on the Needles sub. I was on the phone with someone and not running the camera. I cought the scanner chat and realized they were talking about me Smile, Wink & Grin. Time to go Wink

One time I was videoing a crew switching in Valdosta Ga, when I heard one of them say "Watch that guy with the camera". I guess they were afraid I would get in the way and get run over. I thought to myself "Gee whiz, give me credit for some sense!"

Whilst in Michigan this past summer, I happened upon a short line crew picking up interchange from CSX.  I sat in my truck at a crossing, at what was more-or-less public property (end of a driveway just off the road).

I heard the crew comment that there must be a signal maintainer waiting at the crossing - my truck is white, with a cap, and a light bar.

Didn't seem to make them work any faster...

Shooting down by the Seattle waterfront, the crew of the garbage train comments on my "big 'ol fancy camera"!
