Title says it all,
The meeting between NS & PAN AM. was yesterday about buy pan am all the way to waterville ME.wanted to see if anybody had any official news or press release
If true its about freaking time
Apparently no news yet..
On another Northeast oriented Railfan forum that I am a member of there is a lot of speculation that Norfolk Southern will buy the Pan Am Southern (Mechanicsville,New York to Ayer, Ma. with branches North to connect with the New England Central and South to connect with the Connecticut Southern) section of PAR and shortline/regional railroad operator Watco will get the rest.
Supposedly Watco and Pan Am officials have been meeting lately as well..

pan am southern will be part of the overall deal & watco wants the old maine central lines east of waterville. They are also talking to NHN so its gonna be iinteresting
The lines "north and south" are now owned by Massachusetts and operated under rights by Pan Am Southern. This was part of the deal that put the "Vermonter" on the historic B&M Conn River Line between Northfield MA and Springfield MA. A purchaser (say - NS) would get those rights along with the rest of PAS.
