Amazon lets you buy by the month. Go give it a try to see if it works for you. (I have a Kindle, but they do have a PC reader).

I buy Trains from Barnes & Noble on my Nook ereader.  It is not in color, but I could care less.  

I subscribed to Trains for more than 25 years.  Then I had an ah-ha moment!  I was not interested in most of the articles.  So I quite subscribing to the magazine.  Now, if an edition has at least two articles that I want to read, I buy it on my Nook.  

When you buy magazines from Amazon, B&N, etc. you can store them on their server until the cows come home.

I have the same problem, at the stores where I use to buy it I asked why it was no longer available, in both places I was told sales of the magazine were bad.  Model Railroader and Classic Trains still on the stand.

Let's face it - any rail-oriented magazine is a niche market.  

We're probably lucky that anyone outside of hobby shops even considers stocking it...

A knitting magazine would probably have better sales...

The grocery store where I would usually find Trains dropped down to just Model Railroader and now has cut their magazine section in half. This may be more of an industry trend.

Try a local Barnes and Noble, the ones around me always seem to have the current issues of "Trains" plus the other rail-related mags.  Possibly there's a big railfan base here, enough to support stocking said magazines.  Or, check your local rail-heavy hobby shops.

Or, just subscribe like I did.  I get both "Trains" and "Classic Trains."
