Don: Several years ago foreman told us that it was Haulage rights with Birmingham based CSX crews. It is the CSX Lineville sub from BNSF in Birmingham to LaGrange Ga then the A&WP sub to the CSX Fairburn IM terminal. Of course that may have changed.
CSX in anticipation of this service in the early 2000s built 2 new 10,000+ foot sidings and installed CTC Fairburn to LaGrange. Now CSX has 4 - 10,000 ft sidings from NS in East Point and only one 7000 ft siding left from ATL airport to LGC which is a constant headache for dispatchers especially the CSX 28 Hour mixing in with the 24 hour BNSF haulage trains.
The Lineville sub got upgraded CTC and lengthing of siding but have no idea timeline,
.
Not anymore! When CSX basically "gave" BNSF rights to move traffic from Birmingham to Atlanta as well as space in their Atlanta terminals, they pulled their intermodal trains off the Speedway. UP and NS then did a deal to basically replace the lost service. UP interchange is at Shreveport instead of Dallas as it was with the UP.

I understand NS gets a couple of trains a day from the UP on the Meridian Speedway route. Do they get any traffic from BNSF on this route?
