I liked the one by Bryan Bechtold. It reminded me of a Far Side cartoon in need of a caption. How 'bout: "As all that horsepower was out on the railroad keeping America's economy humming, Joey could only watch from the corral, hoping someday to be an NS thoroughbred, or at least star in a Budweiser Super Bowl commercial someday".
