Today 11/27/04 John Young Jr passed away in Charleston W VA he was 76.
John was a noted rail photographer whos work graced vairous railroad magazines from the late 40's on. His photos were a regularly seen in Train, Railfan,and Railpace magazines for years. His work also appeared in many books over the years.
John was a native of W Va but lived in Binghamton NY for years. After he retired he move back the W VA.
JJ was a great person and always had a story or a photo tip to share.
I Knew JJ all the years he lived here in Binghamton and felt privilaged to know the man. I still railfan with JJ's son John and we always share storys about JJ.
He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

There is no such thing as a bad day of railfanning. So many trains, so little time.

He has reached the end of his journey. RIP

Truly a shame. I never met J.J., but I have seen a lot of his stuff and it is excellent work...

Met him once, briefly.

The man made a heap of great photos. We're all indebted.
