By painting the heralds of their various predecessors on a few cars BNSF is assuring the marks are continuing in use in interstate commerce, thereby maintaining their rights to those trademarks.

27 Heritage Hoppers total -  three for each of the nine predecessor lines (ATSF, BN, CB&Q, C&S, FW&D, GN, NP, SLSF, SP&S).

I was having lunch in Benson MN when a WB grain train passed thru town and I noticed a gray covered hopper with BNSF xxxxxx but it also had a Spokane Portland and Seattle herald on it.  This is the only car I have seen with s SPS hearld how many of them are their out there?
