like I said it was some I heard around the time CN bought DM&IR,may have just been some guys idea.
There's a large rail-served coal shipping complex in Superior WI. I haven't heard anything about it being over-burdened or anything.
Thanks that make sense. Some time ago did not CN talk about /think about the idea of shipping coal out throught the ore docks. I do not remember where I heard this, maybe just railfan talk.
US Steel Co. iron ore from its Minntac plant at Mt. Iron goes via Two Harbors. Duluth docks receive their ore from ArcellorMittal's Minorca plant at Virginia and from Cliff's Unitac plant at Forbes, both of which are in temporary shutdown. Duluth also received any overflow from Minntac.
I have always been a DM&IR fan and I check the MN north shore ship loading web site often. I see most ore on the CN goes to two harbors now and little goes out of Duluth. Is this due to milage or other reasons?I know one Duluth dock is out of service also all the limestone used in making taconite arrives in Duluth ,but many times the same ship goes to two harbor to load ore.
