Mostly BNSF Powder River Basin coal trains on the CN/GTW.

Here in Michigan on the CN/GTW these days there are mostly BNSF Powder River Basin coal trains running through to the Lansing and Flint area.

In an attempt to photograph manifest trains, what I have been photographing instead are more coal trains.

The cars are mostly aluminum gondolas. There are some aluminum 5-bay open hoppers.

They either go to Durand for interchange with HESR for Consumers Power in Essexville or are for the DTE plants downriver from Detroit. Not sure if there are any for interchange with CSX at Flint. I think the latter are coming up CSX' Saginaw sub then on trackage rights to Port Huron.
