Over the years, I've spent a lot of time at both Marion and Fostoria.
There are some similarities. Both are great locations to visit. Both have three routes crossing in close proximity to each other and a good volume of trains. Both have a safe location to watch the trains from.
There are also some differences. Fostoria has a higher volume of trains than Marion. While the park at Fostoria is great, Marion has the Marion Union Station that has been restored into a museum (as well as the model railroad club), AC Tower, and the Erie Lackawanna caboose there as well.
I'm thinking that when it came to picking between the two locations, which are only about an hour apart, they might have gone with the one that had more than just the passing trains.

Got the new Trains magazine.In the top 75 trainspots they had Berea,Marion and Cincinnati.Why not Fostoria? It has plenty of action and the new railpark.Just curious.
