A "special move" on NS metals
Posted by Mario_v on Monday, September 7, 2015 1:07 PM

Hello all ;

Here's a video depicting a special move of 'exibit' rolling stock on NS (former CP) tracks. By the way, didn't know Amtrak had a preserved F40. ah and the leading NS unit is sorta nice too

Video description ;

On Thursday, September 3, 2015, NS train 956 departed Harrisburg, PA, bound for the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA. In this video, we follow the train north along Canadian Pacific's Sunbury Subdivision, which has been sold and is slated resume operations under its new owner—Norfolk Southern—on September 18, 2015.

The train, symbol CP 2-931 (second/extra 931 crew), is seen passing 3 locations, Riverside, Mifflinville, and over the Susquehanna River between Kingston and Wilkes-Barre.

0:16 - Around mid-day, the train takes on nice sunlight, passing the depot at Riverside.

1:25 - Further up the line, we caught up to the train passing a small soy-bean field at Mifflinville just after 1:30 pm.

2:12 - The low water provides a unique vantage of the old Gauntlet Bridge from down along the river bank. The train took 4 hours to arrive at this location, after waiting to meet a southbound 458 freight train at Nanticoke. The Sunbury Subdivision is a single-track mainline with occasional passing sidings, with a mix of TWC and CTC territory.
