Ha, I got to say it first. [;)]

I am taking 2 vacation days and we get 2 paid holidays this week so I am outta here. [;)] I will be going to the farm once again. (I feel so much better after a few days there [;)] , they have such wonderful staff [;)] ) The food is good and the view (of the tracks of course) is good too. [:p] If the weather cooperates I might snap a few photos and hopefully one of them will be a "winner."

I'm drooling just reading this!

Gone Wed at noon.

Chicken on Thursday - Driver/Chef will fix whole dinner - then I get the (ugh) cleanup!

So Happy Thanksgiving to all a little early and then I can just sneak out of here on Wed!

Happy Thanksgiving. I had my Thanksgiving last Sunday since half the family is going to Vegas(no train watching since I wont be there). And my turkey was GOOD, and my Potatoes were mashed, and it was so good, except I too was burdened with Clenaup!! Anyway Have a good Thanksgiving Day, And dont forget to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!!!

No turkey, no family, just work. At least that's the way it looks now. My family will be making the trip to Michigan without me.

However, I can be paid big-time for eight hours spent watching trains, rather than driving those eight hours (which is about what a round trip takes). I will not exactly be unhappy. And my loving family will return with leftovers that include some of my favorites (I can't believe I'm the only one in my whole family that likes mincemeat pie!).

And while everyone else is battling the lines in the stores on Friday, I'll be watching trains for eight more hours at holiday pay!

I'll miss seeing my mother, sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. But I will be happy, and thankful nonetheless. And I wi***he same to all of you!

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Carl-Sorry to hear you won't be with the fam, but Holiday pay for watching trains! Where do I sign up? (Nebraska, right? [swg])

Mookie- Hope that's not Mudchicken on Thursday! I[:D]

Have fun everyone and enjoy the holiday however it suits you! I've been itching to get out the Christmas lights for a week now , myself, so it can't get here soon enough. Hopefully the snow holds off until I'm finished with putting them up!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on the forum!
Nice to have a few days off from school[tup] but the real meaning of Thanksgiving is that I should be thankful for everything I have, all of my friends, and of course for trains.

OK, now I'm ready. (I don't care to make early starts on holiday greetings, because at my age, the runup is already to fast).

We are off to the farm for Thanksgining with my side of the family. The wife's side comes on Saturday.

For those like Carl that must work or otherwise cannot gather with family on Thursday, may I suggest the practise of our spread out family. Just declare the day of your next gathering as Thanksgiving Day or any other prefered holiday. (Often the traffic is better.)

Best wishes and thanks to all making the forum interesting and FUN.

Thursday my daughter travels to my place for a nice quiet dinner (with all the trimmings, though!). Friday I get to meet my future daughter-in-law when she and my son visit my daughter's place (about an hour from here). Should be a great time.

Neither of my kids like one of my favorite holiday fixin's - cranberry relish. So I get the whole batch to myself! No complaints there...

Everybody enjoy, then start those diets so you can overeat again at Christmas![dinner][yeah]

Late scratch--my wife has decided that she'll stay home with me; so we'll at least have dinner together (at some restaurant) before I have to go in to work. As for a family get-together, both of my daughters will be braving the weather tonight to have supper with us at a nearby eatery (sort of a spur-of-the-moment thing, so that's why it won't be at our house). Weatherwise, things should be better tomorrow morning for my younger daughter's trip to Mihcigan.

So, at least on this end, everybody's happy! Hope your thanksgiving celebrations are as good. And let me express my thanks for all of my forum friends, too--they've certainly made life interesting this past year!

Well, looks like I'll be braving that monster of a storm that's pounding the midwest tonight as I get called to take a train to Chicago. Out of all the conductors at my terminal I'm the only one left available and I just came in this afternoon!!! Even the switchmen's board in the yard is all used up for road freights!!! Oh well, my wife is with her father in Louisiana, and I'll be dreaming of my best half of the year! [;)] And, If I'm lucky I'll be in Chicago and at the hotel in time tomorrow to watch the Bears beat the Cowboys. Once again happy Thanksgiving and for goodness sakes be careful on the roads!!!
