Locomotive Bell and railroad memorabilia
Posted by DCantrell on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 9:39 AM

I have a brass locomotive bell with cradle along with many gold tie tacks, cuff links, etc I need to sell from some elderly friends of mine. I don't have a ton of information on the bell except they were told it was off a locomotive maybe in MD but not 100% on that. The only mark I can find on the bell is a 16 on the cradle. All the other stuff was in an out building. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this forum and not sure how to upload pictures so please email me at douglas.cantrell@yahoo.com if you'd like to see the itesms. Thanks Doug

Sorry I should have stated that I need help putting a price on the items. I'm trying to ensure they get the most for their items but have found researching pricing very challenging.

For some solid information try www.railroadiana.org, it's a railroad memorabilia collectors website.  It should tell you just about everything you need to know, but I'm not so sure about pricing.  You may have to visit some train shows to have a look and get an idea.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I did check on EBay and found many bells but everything seems overpriced on there. Regarding the tie tacks, cuff links, etc I haven't found anything close to what I have. I'm pretty sure many are solid gold since they were found in an out building but seem to be in perfect condition. Some are conductors caps, latrines, etc. very interesting collection.

Are you sure those "latrines" aren't actually spittoons?
