That is impressive. Too bad locomotives aren't as good looking as they were, there are no clean or smooth lines anymore. And now there appears to be a lot more wiring and the like exposed. But the size and power of modern units is indeed impressive.

Yeah, and too bad they don't sound like they used to, either.....since the EPA stepped in and started regulating noise and emission levels on locos....On NS's Pittsburgh Line over Horseshoe Curve, they are still using SD40-2 's as helpers....Stand at Cassandra on the Iron Bridge when a heavy 16,000 ton coal drag pounds upgrade...It will mostly have newer Widecab Engines on the headend, unless it is a PPLX train that is often powered by SD40-2's as road power too...As anywhere from 1 to 2 pair of SD40-2's bring up the rear of the drag, at a crawl, screaming at Run 8.....well, it still gives me goosebumps! Well, in my opinion, the height of looks and class on diesel passenger equipment was back in the 40's and 50's with E-units and PA's on passenger consists. After ri ding behind Bennett Levin's beautifully restored E-8's in their original Pennsy livery and listening to the sound of those engines......A Modern GE P-42 does not compare in the looks and sound dept in my book! As a point of clarification, these specifications include the 10 tons of additional weight specified by CSXT for the 20 pre-production units that it is currently leasing. The standard weight for an SD70ACe is 408,000 pounds.

A couple of SD-70ACe's were bumming around my area the past month or so, must say those things look like a big lego block.

Ugly as can be, they look more like something that was made for the military rather than the railway.
