It's either something I came across in a Trains Magazine, a Discovery Channel documentary, or a video. In the subject there was mention to the dragging of long sections of rail down the center of the track and the tremendous friction caused by this could generate enough heat to get ties smokin'. <br /> <br />That was rather vague.
