That is the old ex-Central of New Jersey PU Tower, the green building to the right of some of the photos was at one time a joint CNJ/DL&W station. P'burg had the Pennsy, Lehigh Valley, CNJ, DL&W, and the Lehigh & Hudson River (all of which went past this http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?t=1&s=10&x=2414&y=22520&z=18&w=1 area). Now, only NS and a shortline run through Phillipsburg.

Thanks guys! All but the last photo were taken at Phillipsburg, NJ, just across the river from PA (MP 76.3 on the NS Lehigh Line). The last was taken at CP Ham (MP 88.5 on the NS Lehigh Line). Its very cloudy in this area (we have a very sunny day once every week if we're lucky), but that was one of the worst days in a while.

From my experience there is no better cloudy day film than digital. The next time you get out set the white balance for cloudy day or custom balance it for the light you have for the best match. Bump the color level up ore or two and keep the sky out of the meter area as much as possible. Then there is all the post processing options available to you. You are going to like this camera alot.

Nice photos![8D] Looks like your new camera performs quite well in low light level conditions.

Thanks again Mike!

As for "shutter lag", my old camera (a point-and-shoot from the 80's) takes takes over second to take a photo.

Many thanks to Mike (Guilford350), for dealing with my annoying questions about the camera!

...Just a comment on cameras re above post: Have a Canon EOS {eye focus camera, film type} and now have a Fuji Finepix digital A330...{just a little thing}, and not as expensive as the mentioned Canon. I'm still on a learning curve with the Fuji but did find one thing...when batteries get weak the zoom feature gets a bit balky or slows, etc....so replaced the batteries and it all came back together. I found the "delay" when snapping a pic. is hard to get used to but perhaps not much of a problem after one gets more familiar with it. I have just downloaded the pic's onto the computer here...none printed on paper, but on the computer screen we are well pleased with it's result so far....

Just a thought, A friend of mine had one of the Fuji Finepix cameras, and we were out together with my Canon EOS. He had trouble with delays in shots where he tried to zoom between shots, and missed a few shots as a result. With the manual zoom on the EOS, I could get some shots he missed, because his camera had to zoom, the focus, and often every second counts - trains move a long way in a second. I missed a few shots too, for the same reason, the camera not focussing as fast as I'd like, even with the Canon ultrasonic lenses that focus very quickly.

There was not much diffence in quality in a full screen image, and the Fuji was less costly and had a longer zoom range.
