For those in the area it's more like La-moi-l.

It was a great lettle shortline in its time.

I can still remember as a youth at a Summer Camp north of the line at Lake Wapanacki northwest of Hardwick, VT, hearing the horn for crossings around 10:30pm - 11:00pm on warm July nights in the early 1960's.

We have a town here in iowa on the UP mainlines spelled the same. It's La - mole-e-el. Hope this helps.

How do you pronounce "Lamoille" as in St. Johnsbury and Lamoille County RR in Vermont? This Hollander has trouble wraping his tounge around the French word. Thanks.
