I'd go to a site like Cnet.com that rates digital cameras. 640x480 may be what your screen is set at, so if you only do pictures for that you will be OK. It should also be a lot less than your printer. 2.1 gives somewhat better resolution. At the top end of the scale, many cameras are in the 6.0 to 8.0 range today.
These binocs may be a way to get a cheap shot at something beyond the range of most point & shoot cameras. Notice that the range begins at 48ft and beyond. You may be able to stand 16yds from the end zone & cover the whole football field The onboard memory cuts time for pictures to "take". Just have to hold it steady.

Bushnell® Image View™ Digital Binoculars
BassPro Shop carries a digital binoc ($79-229)
to take your big buck shots with 2.1mp with LCD so you can see what you're shooting.
These units may be a cheap way to not buy a heavy 35mm camera lens. I bet at a sporting event, they would be a good way to get a picture of the QB just before the snap.
