UP power will be on the point because of the cab signal systesm in use on the original UP and former CNW. The lead unit must be equipped with the proper cab signals and only UP (or ex CNW) units have the proper equipment.

That's why SP AC's are the second or DPu unit on coal trains, never the leader.

The dispatch center checks every train going towards the old UP or CNW main and makes sure the lead unit is a compatible unit. If not they rearrange the power or pick up a good leader.

With all other Railroad Power now on the point of most Trains through out this country,Will the UP ever run Trains with NS,CSXT,or others on the Point on the east west Main? or will this just stay pure Union Pacific Power? Ill bet the answer will be no because of the CNW cab signals,Right? Im talking about the CNW East West line.
Thanks.
