I was down in Portland, Oregon last Saturday and I was able to shoot some awesome footage of the Spokane Portland & Seattle Steam locomotive #700 in action.
Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think. I have shot plenty of modern diesel power in my travels, but this was a real treat.
Hope you all enjoy.

Thanks Norm.
Thanks, Jonathan. There's something humbling about looking up at a set of giant drivers up close--and there's the added drama of being shrouded in steam. But how did you know the train would stop right there?

Thanks Paul,
In all honesty I did not know where the train was going to stop. In the previous run the train seem to stop short of the tree. So I guess I just got lucky with this shot.
I have to say in my travels, I have not run across a great deal of steam powered trains so watching this locomotive work was a real treat.
Thanks again,
John
Anybody out there have a favorite steam locomotive that they like to see in action?
If so what is it?
I'll take any and all steam, but a sentimental favorite is the N&W "Y". I'd also love to see the "Grasshopper" in the B&O museum running.
Please bring back the 2102 !!!!
The 4014.
