Have you rode the Metrolink?

Has anyone rode the Metrolink? I haven't in quite a few years and want to ride very soon because currently they have a lease on some Sounder equipment. Much more beautiful than Metrolinks because of it's paint scheme.

No, but it looks like fun, I haven't ridden on a passenger train for ages....

I rode Metrolink the last time I was in California and loved the service. I particularly liked sitting in the end signle-level portion of the double-deck coach, where there was an AC outlet for my laptop and I could get some work done without running down the battery. Clean, on time, smooth ride, not hugely fast, but fast enough to beat any other transportation mode.

Many times. I like the San Bernardino and Antelope Valley lines. Those routes have little overlap with the Surfliners. Antelope Valley route passes through remote canyons and tunnels (Soledad Canyon).

Yes , I made a trip from Flagstaff to Riverside just to ride the metrolink. From riverside station I rode into LA on the BNSF line then down to San Diego on amtrak. I got allot of nice pictures down the coast. The train passes right through the center of several beach areas. Coming back from LA to Riverside I took the metrolink that travels the SP line which passes through San Bernadino then to Riverside. Long day but had a real nice time. I was going over this weekend to ride from Lancaster to LA but they don't provide service on the weekend . I'll have to put that off for another time. When I go to Lancaster for the LA trip I will also go over to Tehachapi pass and watch the trains there. California is a great state for riding and watching trains, I go there often.

Yes I have. I thought it was funny that most of the conducters were transplants from New York-New Jersey. The accents made me feel right at home.

Actually it travels former Santa Fe rails east from Pomona to San Bernardino (it is former SP & PE west of Pomona). The line from San Bernardino to Riverside is BNSF shared by UP.

The Antelope Valley line runs a few trains on Saturday. Only the San Bernardino line runs 7 days a week.
