Relax, calm down..[soapbox].[:0][B)][:p].....I'm not crazy about the guy either but we need to stay somewhat "cordial" on the forum. We don't want Bergie locking up another topic! [;)]

Peace out!

Yes, whether we like or hate someone we should at least keep it half-way civil on the forums.

I had a question answered on Mail Call once...[:-^]

Uh uh Espeefoamer, No way

BNSF railfan,
The only to keep this forum free of politics, is to nuke these babies as soon as they get posted. To do so we should make it a point to police ourselves and not allow any political crap to get posted. Dont like Kerry? , WHO CARES - KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! You dont see me spewing out what an empty-headed idiot I find Bu***o be do you?

Its only 6 days to Election Day and so far we've managed to keep this forum relativly free of political viewpoints BUT if someone starts espousing an opinion I feel shouldnt be here I'll make this forum SO HOT Bergie computer will catch fire!!![:(!]

Oh and I firmly beleive George W. Bush can turn this country into what it once was...

Okay, let's calm down folks! Take a deep breath and breath easy, [sigh] and please let's try to keep things clean. BTW: I'm for Bush. I'm not old enough to vote yet, but Bush is who I'm going for.

I don't really like politics period. It's an ***-backwards approach in running a country, state or city.

OK, but I just have to ask. What did you have in mind as an alternative? Divine intervention? Superheros? Monarchies?

Personally..I'm for monarchies.....nothing better than sitting on the front porch of the ole' castle, sipping a yard of mead while the serfs toil away in the fields........

I suppose dictatorships are a way of getting things done, look at the roll China has been on the past 10 years.

And, relevant to the forum, Mussolini made the trains run on time!

(in fact, he did this with massive injections of ca***o the infrastructure, they were state owned after all, and badly needed it.)

When I visited Italy early in 1974, the trains didn't run on time, or sometimes run at all, but Italy has had more than fifty "Democratic" governments since 1945.

But do we want an absolute Dictator only so that we don't have to build contingency time into our travel itineraries?

I believe in the voting process but I hate that whole crap about trying to smear a person and I think its rediculous that politicians will do anything and say anything for re-election and don't get anything done because they are worried about what the polls say.

I however don't care what the polls would say, I would be straight with the citizens at the election and tell them what I would do and would not do and tell them exactly why. I would not give out unrealistic forecasts of when I will do it and will not smear my opponent. I would not stand up and debate platforms in the house just the issues and only because I would want to know what needs to be done. I would not tolerate any cabinet ministers screwing around and not answer a question from the opposition.

I believe in honesty (providing it doesn't violate national security), integrity and intelligence. Moralality and listening. Fairness and humility.

If I don't have an answer, I will say I don't know but will find out for you instead of spin-doctoring.

Bottomline is I believe you be in there to do a job (run the country) and not play Miss America popularity contest. That gets nothing done and invites stereotypical insults against the politicians that actually want to do a good job. It also invites corruption and in the end it hurts the voters because they are the ones who inevitably suffer for your poll-preservation junk.

I think Jesse Ventura was an excellent politician in his attitude only (his policies are much to be desired). He was there for a purpose; did it and got out. He didn't want to make a career out of it and even was willing to go independant from his party.

That's the kind of president or primeminister people should have. Except he or she should try to implement better policies and consult the public more with public hearings for example.

You will learn eventually that you cannot even give some people a sniff of political discussion without starting an all out war of words. That's not for everyone, but for the ones that care, politics is an emotional topic that cannot be skirted. I for one will avoid the discussions rather than get into the debates that some love. And that is fine, but I prefer not to start a debate I cannot win. There will always be another view to any political issue. And having differing views is what makes the world go around...
