Hey Paula, [;)] I agree with you about not needing another forum.

I'm flat out keeping up with this one [:0] [;)] [:)] [:p]

Google is helpful , as well as other areas, but this Forum is good because it allows people to give their own personal experiences and knowledge. I sue use Google and other search engines regularly, but the Forum adds another personal dimension.

Junctionfan, you can't go wrong following Mookies suggestions.

I agree with you Mark about google and all the web searches. I don't reply to the threads as much as I could also because of the family thing as well. There are a lot more important things for me to do with my family than be on the internet all the time. I got along without it for 29 years (I'm 31) and I can get along without it now if I had to. To much in life to explore than sitting behind a computer all the time.

I have 3 forums that I look at and only respond to what I know personally because I don't have time to look in my books all the time also. But there are people on the forums here that can give quick and great responses. I only read the threads that interest me on the subject heading.

But I do try and help out as much as I can with any subject. I hope that I help, anyway. My main interest is in KY railroading history, so day to day operations of the railroad business is something I will never know anything like Ed, CSXengineer or any of the railroad guys and gals do. I have gained a lot of knowledge from talking, seeing some in action, and being on forums, to people like them but would never know anything about the whole business in general unless I was in their shoes actually doing it.

I figured that maybe this is an organization issue due to high volume. It's not a bad thing but wonder what I and others should do when we have questions that can't be answered right away. The only other thing I can think of is if that a topic like that can be general like Stupid question thread and be made "sticky" by Bergie. For example I could start a topic called "Rollingstock questions"; would that be something that would be worth having available all the time?

Junctionfan,

I have had photos in the past that I have sent to Locomutt and Cherokee Woman of a few railcars. They have also referred me to CShaveRR on these forums and he has helped me out alot with everything from when they were built, where they were built, and their main use on the road, and what they are being used for today. I would send him an email and see what he could do for you. If you do email him it may take him a little bit of time to help you out, but if he can find the info for you, you will get a reply.

I have posted things here that haven't had any responses and I figured also that it was because no one had an answer for me.

....Weird.....We here in Indiana are most likely to be considered "in the midwest"...I hardly ever hear it considered the "east".....All though that wouldn't bother me as I am an "easterner".....

Now I see where my confusion is. I've always thought of Mookie's 'midwest' (as aptly described above by radivil) as the "Great Plains." In fact, Univ of Neb, Lincoln runs the Center for Great Plains Studies.

yes...many giant and record-breaking fish were "caught" in any of the 10,000 lakes but always happen to dissapear by the time the fishermen get back to town...

and we have time warps too, for proof of this, look no farther than the set of F-units on the iron range that dissapeared one day in 1963 and now have appeared again, pulling taconite in revenue service...

Yes we should have another forum- And it should go like this, Now this will disturb some crap- But thats my middle name, and thats my second job, apart from playing with trains as some people put it.

Remember Ghandi was a rebel- He just stopped eating- Now if I were to do the same, nobody would give a ratters bottom. Fair enough. SO I'll voice how I feel

I figure we should have a theird branch, somehting were we can feel free to voice our opinion, even have a warning, that this topic is for 18+ year olds, or those who aren't easily offended- Then we would have a REALLY lively forum- No more beating aorund the bush for me (like what i'm doing now) could say things to the point, and really tell someone off if you don't agree with them-

An uncensored, Trains forum- Holy crap would that rock the nation, in two ways.

That's what I say.

I always though of Michigan as being in the midwest. It was, after all, one of the "Northwest Territories.."

Come On!!! General Statement!! Midwest to only me!!!!

Starts around Western PA and ends in Utah.

Feel free to expand the regions: Midwest, South East, South West, Northeast, NorthWest, Nebraska, Canada, LA, Union Station.
Very smart person - you singled out Nebraska as a whole section! I like that!

Yes. I have accepted a job in Janesville Wi. My wife has family in Wisconsin and we would like our young daughter to be near them. I do need to pass my drug screen. No Problem.
Good Deal! Been there once - around the Eau Claire area - (Strum) I was so impressed! Loved the entire time I was there! Want to get the Driver to go there someday!

I don't think we need another forum. When you get too specialized fewer people see the post. They don't go to the rolling stock forum, for instance, because they aren't really interested in rolling stock. But they may have the answer to your query because they worked for that company or something.

If you don't get an answer it just might be because nobody knows!

When I get on I go back to where I was when I last visited so I see everything that was posted since then. Of course I want to see what I missed! I don't read everything at anytime, but I do scan the subject index for things I am interested in.

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of railroad sites on the net. A little time doing some web searches may give you the answer, or at least a couple of more likely places to ask your question.

Good Luck!

Scrooch your chair a little closer and I will whisper in your ear.

Take one question. Post it. Don't post more than 2 questions if you really have the need to post, but one is always better. Make it brief and to the point. Since you aren't explaining the Gettysburg Address, keep it brief. Then if everyone ignores it, bring it back up to the top. If they still ignore it - maybe they don't know or maybe your question is too broad or too complicated. You have a tendency to be all over the map with questions and comments. Slow down - you have a long life ahead of you - take it slow and easy.

Don't post another question until you are satisfied with your answers or it has been at least a week. Write them down and do one a week. Don't worry, the forum won't run out of material if you don't post tons of questions.

When your question is sufficiently answered or has gone off into the netherworld of blather, then you can post another topic.

Easy ain't it.
