Ryan's image resonated with me. That sparkling blue water on a sunny day has me looking for the nearest beach to swim and cool off, and up here in the northern part of the continent that only happens in summer.
I see steam is leading in the poll at the moment, and that is a common pattern. Folks, I know many of you prefer steam over diesels but please consider the artistic merits and theme conformance before blindly casting your vote. If the photographer has to explain how it matches the theme - the photograph has failed.
I am not singling out this edition of Trackside or any specific image, rather talking in general terms about the whole series. Often I abstain from voting when I don't see any of the selected submissions as being true winners.

Went with Tyler’s shot…first I thought it looked too much like a model railroader shot, but the more I looked, the better it got.
Two others grabbed my eye, the one with the camp and plane was also eye catching, and the NS wedge captured the theme also, but Tyler’s just appealed to me most.

Ryan's shot really said "summer" to me.
