I have stumbled across a railroad in southcentral Alabama named Alabama&Florida. I have not been able to collect any information on it. Can any one help me?

I'm sorry, I'm not very familiar with this operation personally, but if you go to a search engine like www.google.com and type in precisely the line "railroad"+"alabama & florida"
you'll get at least ten links to sites refering to the A&F, including the corperate website for the Alabama & Florida. These links should be a good base to get info on the line from fans and the company itself.
Good Luck!!

John

Looks like it has been taken over or renamed to Patriot Rail.

I regularly drove through Andalusia going down to the house in Grayton Beach.

If there is anyone actually still concerned with this decades-old topic, google 'Three Notch Railroad'.

(Amusing to see someone who shows as a member since 2003 posting in 2001.  And answered by someone with a Geocities page...)

Anonymous is a Kalmbach IT catch all identity for all accounts that have been inactivated for whatever the reason and it wasn't created by Kalmbach until 2003.

Abandoned totally by 2011. Ma Nature has taken back most of the ex L&N line. (There was an attempt at converting parts of the line to trail use, but that appears to have failed by 2018)

On the STB website, look at AB-1073

Keep in mind that the original 'Alabama & Florida' was the line from what is now CSX in Georgiana -- this is now Three Notch, and as far as I know it still goes through Andalusia to the carpet mill.

You'll have a headache tracking the 'new shortline' A&Fs from the '80s on.  G&W took over in 2012 after 'abandonment' in 2011.

Incidentally you can see parts of the old grade from Florala down to Crestview along Rt. 85.  (I usually go via 331 because I want nothing to do with that damn toll bridge.)
