Mysterious Amtrak
Posted by bnsfkline on Sunday, October 17, 2004 5:10 PM
Well, today, the guys and I at the Kirkwood Station got a REAL shock. a 5th Amtrak train went through. The Southwest Chief detoured through St. Louis Via the UP. This is the first known incident that the SWC has gone through Kirkwood. Has anyone seen anything like this?

See my ealier post: In the 80's the Chiefs equipment went Chicago-St. Louis-KCMO to accomodate a large move to the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. The Ann Rutledge ran the Chicago-Galesburg-Ft. Madison-KCMO route that day

Wow, I live in Aurora, IL and was unaware of any detour of the SW Chief, how was it routed out of Chicago during the detour?

There may not have been a Westbound detour, however if there was, I would suspect via St Louis.
