Toyota was one of CNW's biggest customers with its "inland port" at West Chicago (UP still is). I'm sure, though, that if they intended to honor or even emulate CNW's logo they could have come closer to it.

I seriously doubt it. The Toyota logo has been around for a while and a corporate symbol such as that is not something that an ad agency is going to come up with.
I just saw a Toyota ad on TV and noticed something familiar with the logo.
To me it looks like the Chicago & North Western logo.
I wonder if someone on their ad design team is a CNW fan?
