Ah yes, Allison Steele, "The Night Bird."   What a speaking voice she had.  "Come fly with me..."

Rest in peace dear lady.

I had also forgotten that it was Joni Mitchell who penned the original "Urge for Goin' ", To the best of my knowledge, Tom Rush's version is still available only on vinyl ...

As someone with family from the original Wyoming, I'm glad to hear that song is still played there.  I first heard it in the middle of the night on the old WNEW, with Alison Steele, and remembered it from that one time until I was able, nearly eight years later, to find a copy in the college radio station library.  That's a measure of how good it is.

I've seen it come out twice on CD (in Tom Rush 'collections') and, I think, in a re-release of Circle Game around 2008...

LONG LIVE THE MAGIC OF RADIO!

TO OUR MODERATORS:

I had intended for these post to be continued on the original thread, but my habit of "titleing" posts when I was "2nd trick op" at railroad. net apparently backfired. Please feel free to combine the two threads.

I had also forgotten that it was Joni Mitchell who penned the original "Urge for Goin' ", To the best of my knowledge, Tom Rush's version is still available only on vinyl. but it still draws requests up at WVIA (Scranton/ WilkesBarre PBS, and our local music expert, George Graham, is happy to oblige. A hauning piece of art.

And to Mr. Tree68:: Back in the late Sixties, after the sun went down, there were a lot of people all over the Northeast tuning in to Tom Shannon, Mark Richards, and a lot of good music a the late, great "Big 8" (CKLW); -- a unique (North)American institution.

19 and copy from 'NP' at Nescopeck, Penna.
