dont come off to us railroaders that you know more about the industry then we do... this dose not do well for the railroad/foamer relastionships.... if you have railroad experince... that is one thing..but one way to get alot of crap is to come off that you know how railroads work in the real world becouse you read a book..or you sit beside the tracks and watch trains go by all day.... i have no problem myself with helping the kids out thier to understand the railroad...but when i get additude becouse what i said goes agins what you thought......
also... you hvae to be able to take some sarcasum....i personly ... am a sarcastic person... and come off with some smart *** responces from time to time... dont take it personly.... its my way of haveing fun on the forums..... dont take anything to heart...its all in good fun.... you will know if you said the wrong thing or pissed me off...becouse ill let you know...lol......im not afrade to let people know it....
this is just to give you a little about me..... like i said..i dont mind helping people out..untill i get additued back insted of respect for my experince....

Terry,
Jim (jhhtrainsplanes) is very correct. If you have questions, the Stupid Question
thread is a VERY GOOD place to put them. There are plenty of people who
will be more than happy to answer your questions. The entire forum is a good
place to learn more about the railroads, no matter what your age.

Terry
Hello.
Please allow me to offer some advice. This comes from one railfan to another and is meant to help you, please take it as such.
Before you make a post do some research on your own. Learn what you can learn, if you truly do not understand something THEN ask. If you ask an intelligent question you will receive an intelligent answer. It is very important that you use what you do know--names should be spelled correctly, the facts should be exactly that, "the facts". Make sure of "history", you can not only offend some people but anger them greatly by misrepresenting (whether intentional or not) know and proven history. People will regard you more highly if you ask intelligent questions, use proper grammar (spelling included), and show respect to other forum members.
We have a variety of people in this forum who are very knowledgeable on railroading. They will go out of their way to answer a question for you, provided you ask an intelligent question. If you truly want to learn these people will be more than happy to assist you. I might also refer you to the "Stupid Question Thread". There have been many very good questions asked in that thread and some very good answers. You might consider posting many of your question in that thread. These people, railroaders or not, stand ready to help, so please do ask questions, just make sure they are questions that truly deserve an answer. Above all, make sure you spell names correctly and have your facts straight. This alone will gain you much respect in the forums.
Now with that said let me suggest this. There are many forum members who are teens (by your postings I believe you are a teen or preteen, should I be wrong then forgive me) and chat on msn messenger or aol aim. If you have one of these instant messenger services then seek out other forum member and chat with them. You can ask some of your questions to them and allow them to help you understand what you do not know. Trust me these guys and gals know a lot more than many people give them credit for knowing. Most of them are a good bunch and would welcome another railfan/modeler into the ranks of instant messenging. If you do not have one of the messengers then consider downloading one as they are free.
This "friendly" advice has been given to assist you. I truly hope it is taken as such and helps you gain the knowledge you seek.
If you do these things your railroading knowledge will increase, you will make many new friends, and your time in the forum will be much more enjoyable. I wish you a good day and a great weekend.
Take care, stay safe. [;)]
