Jim, I may have been Frank Orona's other vote.  (Percentages suggest that he got a few more than ours!)

I think I liked it for the same reasons as you did.  I don't know what an "E/F" coupler is, though.  The one on the left is a double-shelf E, and the one on the right, I think, had a lower shelf only, or perhaps no shelf.  An F coupler has more contact points on the sides, as well as top and bottom, to hold it in position.  One is pictured in one of the other shots.

There were many, many good shots in this installment, in my opinion.

Voted for Frank Orona's photo.  Not only did he exquisitely show two very different coupling assemblies, he did so in a very dynamic fashion (pace shot). The photo is very clear and focused, composed and exposed well, shows lots of technical stuff, and the pacing give the image a feeling of action.

Second choice was Jordan's plow shot, primarily due to it's uniqueness (although it certainly is the most dramatic and action-filled image of the bunch).

Also went with the broken knuckle shot. I admire the ingenuity.

John Troxler got my vote.

Why?

Because I liked his submission best.

Why?

Darned if I can express it in words...I just liked the picture.

All couplers couple trains and from any angle they are the same...so when the aren't coupling but have failed or broke make for a statement....Mathiue Tremblay, got my vote for being different.  I did like the coupler blasting through the snow, too, as my seccond choice.
