I'm trying to find out what types of passenger cars were opperated on the Central Vermont between 1945 and the end of passenger service in 1966. All the photos I have seem to show a colorful variety of cars belonging to various other roads, as well as the CV's own aging truss rod heavyweights. CN heavyweight baggage cars seem very common, along with a mixture of CN, B&M, and New Haven heavy- and lightweight coaches, sleepers, etc. A Maine Central heavyweight combine with two axle trucks makes a few appearances as well. I would like find out which manufactures made these cars, and what might be good starting points for modeling them. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Since the principal passenger services on the CV were the "Montrealer" and the "Ambassador" on the northern part of the line and were run in connection with other railroads, most of the cars were a mix of cars from those connections. The "Ambassador" was run between Boston and Montreal in connection with the B&M and CNR, while PRR, NH, B&M, and CNR were involved in the "Montrealer" between Washington and Montreal. Since CV was a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNR, CNR equipment was used on these runs, including CNR power between White River Jct. and Montreal. When I rode it, the power was still a CNR 4-8-4.

Gregg & Chris:
The Ambassador also carried a thru New York (GCT)-Montreal coach which was usually a pre war New Haven lightweight style coach.(Not one of the New Haven's stainless stel post war 8700 series coaches though) Also back in the early 50's the Ambassador was most usually hauled by one of CV's 600 series 4-8-2's.
