WC SD45
Posted by ericsp on Monday, September 27, 2004 12:30 AM
On Friday I saw a WC SD45 on a UP train. The train was lead by UP 2701, UP 6320, UP 6348, UP 6352, WC 7501(DIC), and UP 9199 (DIC). I took pictures but I have not finished the roll of film yet. For those that do not know DIC means dead in consist.

I was under the impression that all WC's were to be returned by now. Thier leases to other railroads were up as of Sept. 1st! She sure is far from home!

I think the WC SD45's will be around for qutie sometime, where I do not know. As long as they stay far away for Larry's Truck and Electric we have nothing to worry about.

Actually, most of the WC units roaming around on NS are on lease to UP who in turn gave them to NS to pay back horsepower hours. Still, I'm not complaining! [:D]

I saw a couple WC units last Thursday or Friday go past our shop in Northern KY (Boone Co.) on NS tracks. They were the only power of the train. I hadn't seen them over here for quite some time.

Did have a couple CSX units go by today as well. To seem them over here on NS is very odd.

The thing that gets me about UP is that all their power seems to be over here on the NS as well. I see more UP power than I do NS.

This last Friday on the way to work I noticed 3 or 4 engines pulling a train into North Little Rock. The last unit was in WC paint. I believe the first 2 or 3 units were NS but don't hold me to that.
