No need to appoligize, you though you were doing a good thing...
innocent mistake.
But it is true, politics and religion....
might want to keep those two subjects on a personal basis, and discuss them via private email...

Andrew, just remember that understanding US politics and government policies is difficult enough for those of who live and vote here. I certainly don't know the first thing about the Canadian system, so I don't comment.

It's kind of like trying to find out what goes on in your neighbor's bedroom, by staring at the windows with the blinds drawn.

I think it's all the woulda, coulda, shouldas that get you into trouble. When you don't know, it's OK to ask, but please don't preach. You are still young, and as such forgiven. But in the future, please remember this lesson.

Andrew, for your punishment, when you become a customs agent you will have to let all the forum members come to the front of the line and then explain to everybody else why you did it.

politics do impact on railroading and to that extent discussions should certainly be permitted.

as for religion, as long as we don't try to either proscylatize or insult, mention of faith as getting us over the rough spots and allowing us to do a better job or treat others more fairly certainly should be permitted.

Well, I think you can redeem yourself by starting a new topic, if you make it a good one.[;)]

Hi Junction Fan

Saw the topic and your cyber name and got curious. I don't know what you did, but it takes a special person to own up to a transgression. [tup]

You frequented one of my topics a few months ago - Canadian Passenger Trains! Let's Talk! - and I recall that you had some interesting insights to help us along. Then, a few guys chimed in with the nonsense of political and national differences which rapidly changed the intent of the discussion. That's when I decided to pull the plug.

Free speech - you gotta love it! [swg] Equally relevant is choice to listen (or in the case of the Forums: read).
Happy Railroading! Siberianmo

Or at least not search my families luggage! 2 ot the 4 times that we have taken a driving vacation to Canada, we've been one of the lucky picks for a luggage search. Must be the volume of luggage my wife and 2 daughters take along that looks attractive to a customs agent.

Seriously though, Andrew, no harm-no foul in my view. Just wi***hat they hadn't locked it while I was typing my reply to your last post in that thread.

Wasn't that when you were still new to the forum, and were alledging that the US occupation of Iraq was an instrument of a massive right wing conspiracy between Union Pacific and the Republican Party of the United States to wrestle control of the Iraqi railway? [8][}:)][}:)][8][:o)]

Well, I think at that early point, most of us had not yet evolved in our thinking quite as far as Andrew had, and THAT was the source of the friction. Having a new comer reveal what should have been so blatently obvious, all along... [:D]

I know man,..I was just teasing... [;)]

I was there at the time, and as i recall, you actually were just being leftist in the traditional canadian fashion. And, the usual rightwingnuts were not digesting it very well.

I recall it as being particularly stressful for me, because although I disagreed with the points you were championing, almost completely to each and every last one, yet I supported your right to be of another mind, separate form the mainstream.....

So, do you still write music? [8D]

Yes but write now I have way to much stuff to take in. The Criminal Code of Canada which in itself is a HUUUGE amount of information to take in. Very wordy and confusing to ensure job security for the lawyers and judges. Then there is the Highway and Traffic Act which doesn't concern a custom's officer too much but we still have to learn it anyways. Then we have to get into immigration laws and other federal laws and regulations concerning the boarder and whatever else the professors want to bombarde our poor brains with in 2 years.

NOW......if I decide to change to the police foundations program to be a police officer which is likely what I will do as soon as my physical capabilities are satisfactory-a lot more training; then even more laws I must learn. Then, I will have to go to the Ontario Police College for ex amount of time for firearms training, combat, high-speed pursuit (you get the idea), plus a 9 mile long obstacle course.

Attempting to conclude my rant, yes I write music but I have know idea when I can get stuff done for publishing.

Andrew,

Just like the tax code in this country, those laws are way to complicated to have been written by men or women. No doubt there was divine intervention.

Divine??? I thought the devil was anything but.......

If you are interested in specific demons and what they do, do a Google search on Andras and I believe Alastor, Belial, and Astaroth-makers of law.........LOL.

Dear Junctionfan,
What types of music do you write--string quartets, concerti (NOT concertos), symphonies?

As a highschool violinist (not a very good one, but one nonetheless), I implore you, please be kind in your key signatures (please no C# minor), and if you ever consider writing in 6/8, couldn't you just write in Waltz Time with a doubly fast tempo? [:)][:D]

I lament that I did not read your post, it sounds like it would have been fun!

Sincerely,
Daniel Parks

I write Symphonies; Symphonic Poems (like symphonies but not proper symphonic structure); concertos for piano, harpsichord, violin and a few other instruments; solo pieces for piano, harpsichord and organ; not too much chamber music (quartets etc), and the odd impulse to write music for the virginal in the renaissance style.

I don't particularly enjoy excessive amounts of black keys either. The violin is kind of odd as you must know unlike in piano, in violin, G# and Ab are two different pitches-it's kind of confusing and a pain to remember that for the other string instruments when writing for them.
