The pizza photo is intriguing…one wonders what caused the guys reaction. (how much for deep dish?)
And the composition is great, obvious both folks didn’t know they were being photographed, the interaction is genuine.

Gotta Love that Mountain Weather (Front Range?) .
I remember a Jul 10 about thirty years back (or so). I was standing in front of the 76 T/s at Golden Co. Waiting to talk to my Dispatcher (he was in Memphis,Temp was hot enough there to fry eggs on a car hood). By the time he came on the line the snow was approaching knee deep. Had Not needed money I'd have been inside. (No pay phones inside!(?).
Temps and weather around here have been just as nuts. Warm in day time, below freezing at night. Thank you OWL Gore!
P.S. NICE photos, as usual, CHRIS! .
But it is not supposed to rain, snow or do anything to the railroad ops!Just ask anybody who works there...
Springtime in Denver? It was a lot nicer than that when I went through on the CZ a month ago. Besdies, this year, it looks like spring anywhere in the northern midwest & plains states!
When I traveled on the CZ in the late 80s, train power was turned off a long time at the Denver stop, so as they recommended the thru passengers wait in the station. If this is still the case, and the kitchen is out of commission, then I could see sending out for food during the crew's only break for a while.
Mookie - Yeah, we did another round of it yesterday. I got to change a flat tire in it. Fun times, LOL. (Real) Spring is supposed to return this week theoretically. If it does, I'll send it east!
John - On the bright side, if you don't like the weather in Denver, just wait 10 minutes or drive 10 miles and it'll change!
Don - Apparently a lot of folks on the CZ share your thoughts. This was just one of 3 pizza deliveries that occurred that evening. One was for a rider, but the other two were picked up by Amtrak employees. I think you might be onto something with your thoughts about Amtrak food!

Good stuff, as always! Thanks for sharing it.
The top one made me chuckle. I've often thought that Amtrak might be better off having prepared food delivered to the trains en route rather than cooking it on board....anything to improve the bottom line of these trains and perhaps keep them around longer. I usually get shouted down at the mere suggestion...
But, here we have a pizza being delivered to the train! (to an Amtrak employee, no less...)

Springtime in Denver. Thanks.
Chris - I am not a big black & white fan - Driver is the Ansel Adams fan. However, this looks like home to me. We have been having snow off and on and people in shorts and sweatshirts with obligatory flip-flops. #2 and # 3 - are just plain cold and miserable, just like I am right now.

Of course, this is springtime in Denver, so it may not be quite what you were expecting. Here are three shots from the CZ's stop in Denver on Monday:

As always, C&C more than welcome!
